Proposed Traffic Calming Phase 2 – Kilberry Co. Meath
Proposed Traffic Calming Phase 2 – Kilberry Co. Meath
Non–Statutory Public Consultation
Meath County Council is opening a process of non-statutory public consultation on Wednesday 17th of March 2021 around proposed Phase 2 Traffic Calming Measures for the R162 at Kilberry, Co. Meath.
These proposed works are in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users, in accordance with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 (as amended).
Consultants working on the scheme have undertaken a preliminary design and have identified the extent and nature of the scheme. The proposed measures which are the subject of this notice include as follows:
- Provision of new kerbs and footpath southeast of the Kilberry cross junction.
- Realignment of an existing boundary wall so as to facilitate a new footway link to bus stop facilities (southeast of Kilberry cross junction).
- Upgrade of an existing footway northwest of Kilberry cross junction to enhance footway links to bus stop facilities
- Provision of new drainage within the extents of the scheme.
- Public Lighting to be extended further South of the junction.
- Provision of appropriate traffic signs and road markings.
In advance of finalising these proposed traffic calming measures, we wish to consult with the public. If members of local communities, cyclists, pedestrians and other road users, interested individuals or groups, have any comments in relation to the proposed design, we will certainly consider those when developing the “Detailed Design”, which will be subject to funding and landowner agreements in relation to the acquisition of required lands
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and associated restrictions, we will not have the opportunity to hold a traditional, in-person public consultation event. However, we are still very keen to receive your feedback on the scheme.
We want to engage with as many people as possible in the consultation process, so that we can be confident that the proposals are the best way forward.
