Chairperson of Ratoath Municipal District, Cllr. Nick Killian welcomed the guests in attendance and those watching remotely. Cllr Killian acknowledged the importance of communities and the support that they provide and acknowledged the invaluable work carried out across the district despite the challenges presented. Cllr Killian referenced the Conference of the Parties (COP26) taking place in Glasgow this week and highlighted the importance of climate action and encouraged everyone to get involved noting that individual action can make a difference.
Director of Services Mr Dara McGoran commented that he was delighted to see the return of the Pride of Place initiative this year and thanked all of the volunteers on behalf of Meath County Council for the work that is carried out in the Ratoath District. He outlined the importance of Pride of Place noting that it supports and promotes community activity and development and enables the Council to work in partnership with the community. He commended the commitment and work of the community groups over the last year. Mr McGowan also, on behalf of the Council wished Ratoath Men’s Shed the very best of luck as they represent Meath in this year’s CoOperation Ireland Pride of Place competition in the Community Wellbeing Initiative category.
