Following the launch of the Road Safety Signage Initiative in September 2023 by The Meath Joint Policing Committee Subcommittee on Road Safety and Improved Driver Behaviour, the initiative has now been extended to a number of Soccer Clubs across the County.

The initiative, funded by Meath County Council’s Joint Policing Committee, was initially rolled out across the County with a number of GAA clubs supporting the placement of the safety signage on club grounds. This has now been extended to a number of Soccer Clubs across the County.

Speaking about the initiative, Cllr. David Gilroy, Chairperson of the Subcommittee said, “Soccer grounds around the County and in particular the Meath & District Soccer Grounds in Navan attract a large footfall of soccer players and parents to and from training and games, the grounds provide the ideal location to place the signage reminding a large amount of road users of the key road safety messages”.

Other members of the subcommittee include Meath County Council’s Road Safety Officer, Audrey Norris, Inspector Peter Gilsenan, An Garda Síochána and a number of Meath County Council Councillors and Community Representatives.
