This grant will cover a range of works with approximately 66% of the funding covering maintenance of the regional and local road network. There was an increase in funding of €217,500 for restoration improvement works with a total budget of €13.1m to deliver 68 schemes across the entire County. The grant also includes funding of €1.2m for Climate Change Adaptation and resilience works which assist in ensuring resilience within the road network and support the Council’s climate change objectives.
An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Tommy Reilly welcomed news of the funding saying “This allocation is very positive news for communities across County Meath and underpins the Council’s commitment to ensure that our roads remain safe and reliable”.
Kieran Kehoe, Chief Executive, Meath County Council said “This substantial funding will enable a comprehensive programme of road improvement works across the County. Added to this is the investment by Meath County Council of €18.5m for Municipal District Works. This significant investment in our roads programme will build on progress to date and support economic development across the County.”
