Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council Cllr. Tommy Reilly was joined by Minister for Justice Helen McEntee TD and Minister of State, Business, Employment and Retail Emer Higgins on Thursday morning in Buvinda House, Navan, for the official launch of the Meath Economic Development Strategic Action Plan. 

The plan provides direction for the short to medium term, aimed at fostering sustainable growth, attracting investment, and enhancing the quality of life for businesses and residents of County Meath. 

This Strategic Action plan will focus on delivering 6 overarching priorities to support the county's development, in addition to a number of actions identified under 5 separate workstreams. 

Launching the strategy, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said, ‘This action plan will play an important role in ensuring that Meath continues to be a great place to start and grow a business, a great place to invest, and a great place to live and work. The Government, through our enterprise agencies, will continue to support the business community in Meath to create sustainable, well-paying jobs. The jobs and investment we have seen in recent years is testament to the ingenuity of workers and businesses. The Meath County Council Economic Development Strategy which we are launching today will play a crucial role in ensuring that we take the right actions now to support economic development into the future’. 

Speaking at the launch, Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council Cllr. Tommy Reilly said, ‘This Action Plan is the result of ongoing collaboration between Meath County Council, Forum Members, businesses, and key stakeholders throughout the County to deliver our shared vision. Delivery of the action plan will strengthen Meath’s competitiveness, highlight and promote our unique assets to investors, and provide a landscape for businesses and residents to thrive.’

Meath County Council Chief Executive Kieran Kehoe added, ‘The vision is for Meath to be an economically vibrant and sustainable County that enables our people and businesses to thrive. The Meath County Council Economic Development Strategic Action Plan will assist us in continuing to shape our future, is designed to create exciting opportunities for business growth and investment, as well as Meath being recognised as a thriving and attractive place to live, work and play.’
