Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service is pleased to launch "The 12 Days of Christmas" fire safety campaign this week.

This initiative, in partnership with Meath County Council Housing Section, aims to raise awareness among County Meath residents regarding twelve potential fire hazards present in their homes during the Christmas season. Informational Brochures are available at all Meath County Council libraries.

Additionally, the campaign supports Meath County Council's "Community Smoke Alarm Scheme," which offers free smoke alarms to residents of County Meath. It is concerning that over 70,000 homes in Ireland do not process a functioning smoke alarm, including more than 2,200 homes in County Meath alone. During the official launch at Buvinda House earlier this week, the critical importance of having a minimum of two operational smoke alarms in every residence was emphasised.

Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service has introduced a new electronic program titled the "Home Fire Safety Check Programme." This initiative enables residents of County Meath to complete an online questionnaire that evaluates the fire safety measures in their homes. Based on their responses, participants receive a risk rating regarding their fire safety condition. Additionally, firefighters are available to arrange in-person visits to conduct the questionnaire with homeowners upon request.

If you are interested in applying for the Community Smoke Alarm Scheme or the Home Fire Safety Check, please contact 046-90-51068 or email communityfiresafety@meathcoco.ie.
