Meath Library Service is really excited about this year’s Summer Stars Reading programme. Last year, over 3,300 children participated and this year we're aiming even higher.
This annual national reading programme invites children throughout the county to join the reading adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading over the summer. Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who signs up with Meath County Council Libraries receives a reader’s registration pack and will be awarded a certificate of participation at the end of the programme. It’s all completely free!
This year, we're on a mission to ‘get’ to Paris for the Olympics! For each book read, children will get a reward ticket which will help us get our ‘Library Bus’ to Paris in time for the opening ceremony. Let's make sure our library bus takes us all the way back home to Meath too! The reward tickets are also entered into a draw for prize bundles in each of our 13 libraries.
The registration packs are available from your local library and include a fun filled activity booklet with lots of book recommendations, games and puzzles. We also have Lucky Dip boxes again this year with reusable and environmentally sustainable little gifts!
Our Summer Programme of Events will start on Monday, July 1 with a big variety of activities for all ages. Check our library website for all the details.
