Traffic Calming at School

Schools Programme - Jim Brunnock Road Kells

Concerns were raised prior to the scheme about inadequate crossing facilities, narrow footpaths, irregular parking and poor siting of the bottle bank.

This scheme was developed to address these concerns.  The works consist of the installation of two zebra crossings, installation of additional build-outs, reconfiguration of existing parking, relocation of existing bottle bank, upgrade of existing footpaths, upgrade of public lighting and associated civil works.

The delivery of the zebra crossings and associated works have enhanced road safety for pedestrians and road users.

Schools Programme - Kilcloon Traffic Calming Scheme

The local representatives raised concerns in relation to pedestrian safety in the area, in particular the safety of the primary school pupils during drop off and pick up times, inadequate pedestrian crossing facilities, traffic speeding, poor road signage, poor lighting and substandard footpaths.

This scheme was developed to address the above concerns.  The works on the road at Kilcloon National School included:

  • one raised zebra crossing and two tapered ramps for traffic calming purposes.
  • upgrading of the public lighting, road signage, road markings, new footpath and other associated civils works.
