Primary Schools Fire Safety Programme

Primary Schools Fire Safety Programme

Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service are delighted to notify you of the return of the Primary Schools Fire Safety Programme for 2024/2025 school year.

This programme had been delivered nationally for the past number of years to all 3rd Class pupils. It consists of an approximate 45 minute fire safety talk given by local firefighters to the class as well as each pupil being provided with a fire safety pack.  The programme is designed to enhance the level of awareness of fire safety in the home and thereby raise the level of awareness of fire safety in the community. The school children are encouraged, as part of their homework, to interact with their families on the elements of the programme.

It is hoped that the first visits to schools by Meath County Council Fire and Rescue Service personnel will commence in October 2024 and that all 3rd Class pupils in the county will have received the Fire Safety Programme before the end of the 2024/2025 school academic year.

To assist us in effectively delivering this programme, please aim to complete the very short questionnaire below by Tuesday, 8th October 2024.  A firefighter from your local station will be in contact with you to arrange a suitable visit date and time.
