Summer Stars Reading Adventure 2024

This year we have a special mission for our Summer Stars Readers. We need your help to get our Library Bus to Paris in time for the 2024 Olympics.

map with route from Dublin to Paris

Our bus is fuelled by “Leabhar Power”! For each book that you read, the bus can travel 100 metres. The journey to Paris is 1,166 kilometres so we need you to read lots of books to get the bus there in time for the Opening Ceremony on July 26th. Then we’ll have to make the return journey home.

So get down to your library and register for the Reading Adventure.  Then get reading so we can get the bus on the road!.

We have a Prize Bundle to be won in each of our libraries in 2 age categories.  Younger readers can win a really cute Reading Buddy Soft Toy plus some books and crafts, while older readers have a chance to win a Prize bundle filled with books, vouchers and more.  The more you read the more tickets you can earn to enter the prize draw.

Homework Pass

Once again we are partnering with Meath Primary Schools to encourage children to read. We have asked all the schools in the county to allow us to award a Homework Pass to any child participating in our Reading Adventure who reads 8 or more books. Each library will have a list of participating schools so check when you register if your school has signed up to this initiative.

For anyone with reading difficulties we can adjust the target. We understand that not everyone will reach the 8 book target and we want to help everyone achieve their own personal goals.

Homework Passes will be awarded at the end of the summer with Reading Certificates. See the list of schools who have signed up.

Summer Stars Events Programme

We have lots of free events lined up for July and August so make sure to book in at your local library for some fun activities and entertainment. There will be Arts and Crafts, .
