Artist's Biography
Vivienne Roche was born in 1953 in Cork where she currently lives and works. She studied at the Crawford School of Art in Cork and the School of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she graduated with an MFA in 1975. She is the co-founder of the National Sculpture Factory in Cork. In 2010 she was awarded the CIT Alumni Award. In 1996 she became an elected member of Aosdána, and in 2004 she became an elected member of the RHA. Her solo exhibitions include Spirit and Light, RHA in Dublin in 2013, Fovea, in the Hamilton Gallery in Dublin in 2012, and The Geometry of Water, Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris in 2010. Her work is part of many major national collections including AIB Bank, The Arts Council, Cork Institute of Technology, Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery, Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Limerick County Council, and Meath County Council. Her recent commissions include those by the Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture in 2009, Bray Leisure Centre, CIT School of Music in 2008 and the National College of Ireland in 2006.
