Aim of Forum
The Economic Development Forum was formed to build on and increase collaboration within the county to maximise its assets, attract further investment and create additional jobs and opportunities.
The Forum saw various business leaders, entrepreneurs and high achievers come together to share their experience to facilitate economic activity and growth in the county while overseeing the preparation and implementation of the Meath Economic Development Strategy.
Economic development Action Plan
“County Meath offers numerous advantages for businesses and residents. Its strategic location, modern infrastructure, highly skilled workforce, business-friendly environment, high quality of life, and diverse economic sectors make it an attractive place to live, work, and play.
The county's young population and strong education system produce highly skilled graduates, making it a business-friendly environment. Meath encourages entrepreneurship and innovation, offering various incentives for businesses to start, grow, and succeed.
The county's unique blend of historic and natural attractions, as well as a thriving art, cultural, and recreational scene, contribute to its high quality of life.
The strategic action plan aims to foster sustainable growth, attract investment, and enhance the quality of life for all residents. The plan will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and a progress report will be delivered.
The plan aims to create opportunities for business growth and investment, making County Meath a vibrant and attractive place to live, work, and play.

The Actions in our plan aim to cover many different areas within Meath. These include:
- Food & Agriculture.
- Indigenous & Micro.
- Education & Skills.
- Foreign direct investment.
- Hospitality, Tourism and Retail.
Each area has their own short term and medium-term actions ranging from Business in Meath to working with Boyne Valley Tourism, Flavours and Enterprise Ireland.
All actions were made up by the Economic Development Forum members and the Economic Development team. The forum members are involved in local businesses, are members of Meath County Council or are locally elected TD’s.
