Coastal Protection Works at Laytown

On Monday 14th May, weather dependent, works are to commence for the coastal protection on Laytown beach, adjacent to the on street car park.

The proposed coastal protection scheme for Laytown Beach involves the carrying out of the following works:

•   Removal of the existing gabion coastal protection structure (c. 75m)

•   The construction of a rock armour revetment (c. 75m)

•   Construction of a  stone faced concrete retaining wall (c. 75m)

•   Construction of a railing (c. 145m)

•   Enhance the amenity of the area by removing existing grass verge and replacing it with a bitumen footpath/street furniture  thus allowing safe access for the pedestrians to have a paramonic view of the beach and sea behind the proposed maritime  railings.(c. 75m)

•   Upgrade’s to 2x pedestrian beach accesses

•   Removal of one pedestrian beach accesses

Access to users of the beach adjacent to the works area will be maintained during construction, with minor restrictions in place.
