Joe Rooney  was born on the first of October 1963. He attended the primary school in Kentstown, National school Co. Meath and proceeded to the secondary school in St Mary's CBS Drogheda, Co Louth where he made all his class mates laugh and sometimes even the teachers. 

Rooney is well known for playing the rebel priest Father Damo who led Father Dougal astray in 'Father Ted'.

However it has been several years since Joe played that role and he has travelled far and wide since then. Joe is currently starring as Timmy Higgins in the hit show Killinaskully, as well and touring around Ireland, with his own stand up show.
