The Boyne Valley is situated in the east of Ireland. It is at once Ireland’s ancient capital and it’s most sacred and mythical landscape.

County Meath is known as the Royal County and derives its name from the Second Century AD as a territory for the High Kings. The abundance of historic monuments within this area testifies to the ancient importance of this region and some of the most important historic sites and monuments in Ireland dot the landscape here for example the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Brú na Bóinne.

The River Boyne flows gently through County Meath and borders Co. Louth before flowing into the Irish Sea at Drogheda. It's valley's fertile soil has ensured that it has been inhabited continuously from the end of the Ice Age. It is one of the most historic regional areas, not just in Ireland, but in all of north-west Europe. In 2010 Fáilte Ireland developed the 'Boyne Valley' as a leading International Tourism Destination and one of the 'Top 10 Must Visits Destinations in Ireland'
