Children’s Summer Events

Summer Reading Challenge 2017 – July/August

Children’s Summer Reading Scheme – Summer Stars!
For children aged 6 – 12 years. Join the summer reading challenge! On registration you receive a free reader card, which is stamped after each book you read, a fridge magnet and a super wrist band. Read 4 books and you receive our fab summer stars bag. Read 6 books and you are put into the draw for a chance to win a Kindle Fire Tablet. Everyone who reads one book receives a certificate at the end of the scheme.

Library Treasure Hunt!
Find our Summer Star characters that we have hidden in the library. Take down the letters and form a word to enter. Join our competition for a chance to win a craft pack. The winner will be announced at the end of the month. Entry form is available at the desk.

Parent and Toddler Storytime
Every Wednesday from 10.30 – 11.30am. Stories, colouring and toys/games for toddlers.

Mid Week Movie Club
Wednesdays at 2.30pm all July
Details at the library. Parents of children aged 6 years
and younger must remain on the premises.

Book Reporters!! July/August
If you’ve just read a fabulous book and think everyone should know about it,fill out a book review and we’ll post it up on our notice board for all to see!

Computer Animation
Thursday 3rd August at 11am (Meeting Room)
Suitable for ages 8+. Max 10 spaces.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic Evening
Thursday 10th August at 7pm (JJF Section).
Children are invited to take part in our pyjamas (optional)evening and bring their favourite Bear (or soft toy) for our evening of a picnic and a ‘bear hunt’. Stories followed by the DVD and simple craft. Small ‘bear’ treats will be available on the night.
Suitable for children 6 years and under.  Max 20 spaces.

Playstation Challenge
Monday 14th August at 2.30(Meeting Room)
Once again we have the very popular playstation challenge. Pit your wits against a master!!
Suitable for ages 8+ years. Max 20 spaces.

Mini Music Morning with Susan Rowland
Friday 18th August at 11am (JJF Section)
Fun music event with lots of instruments for the little ones to try out and lots of noise!!
Suitable for ages 6 years and under. Max 20 spaces.

Minecraft – Tricks and Tips
Monday 21st August at 3pm (Meeting Room).
Enter the world of minecraft with handy tricks and tips.
Come along for tips on creating your Minecraft world, lego Minecraft teamwork, tips on internet safety, free play on the playstation and a look at Conor’s Minecraft world. Leave your name at the desk if you wish to attend
Suitable for ages 7+ years. Max 15 spaces.

History Live with Michael Moylan
Thursday 24th August 11am (Reference Area)
An interactive storytelling sessions featuring ancient worlds. Opportunity to wear some cool costumes from the past! Suitable for ages 7+ years.

Summer Stars Reading Graduation Afternoon
Wednesday 30th August from 3pm to 4.45pm.
As per information above, this year we will have an open afternoon with a balloon modeller and face painting while the children collect their certificates. The draw for the Kindle Fire will take place in early September when all entries have been added.

Exhibition
Navan Camera Club celebrates 30 year anniversary .
August 1st – 31st. The club will have  a display of their works for the whole month of August. Launch night is Thursday 3rd August 7pm.

NARA Book Club.
First Tuesday of every month at 11am.
The book club are taking a break until September and will return on the first Tuesday of September.

Spanish Conversation Group.
Every Tuesday from 6.30 - 8.30pm. Intermediate level of Spanish required. New members welcome. Native spanish speakers to help with new vocabulary and pronunciation.

Adult Creative Writers Group
Every Wednesday at 11.15am. New members always welcome.

Irish Conversation Circle.
Every Wednesday at 1.15pm. The group are taking a break and will resume in September.

Adult Craft Group.
Every Thursday at 6.30pm. Sewing, crochet, quilting etc. The group welcomes new members.

Cultúr Women's Group.
Friday from 10am - 12noon. The Group are on a break until September.
