Children's Book Festival

Children’s Book Festival runs for the month of October every year and sees libraries, schools and bookshops across the country hosting events with the very best Irish and international children’s writers and illustrators.

Meath County Council Library Service is delighted to offer a fantastic range of events to schools this October.

This year’s headline author is Roddy Doyle who’s back with a brand new Rover the dog book-“Rover and the Big Fat Baby”.  Paul Cookson is a performance poet from the UK and he’ll be doing some hilarious readings as well as poetry workshops.  The ever popular Nicola Pierce returns with her latest book set during the Battle of the Boyne- “Kings of the Boyne”.

We’re also very excited about our junior book club day on Sunday the 16th in Navan library where book club members from across the county will get to meet their favourite authors and attend a range of talks and workshops.

Booking essential for all event and can be made by contacting Maedhbh at or by phoning (046) 9436014
