Children’s Summer Events

Children’s Summer Reading Scheme – Summer Stars!
Join the summer reading challenge at your local library. On registration you receive a free reader card, which is stamped after each book you read, and a bookmark. Read 4 books and you receive our fab summer stars bag. Read 8 books and you are put into the draw for a chance to win a Kindle Fire Tablet. We also have a draw in July and one in August for a super prize. Everyone who reads one book receives a certificate. This year the under 6s can take part with a junior reading card and a sticker when they join

Saturday Morning Film Club
Every Saturday at 11am. Check with the library for film titles.

Saturday Afternoon Games Hour
Every Saturday 3pm. All ages welcome. Come along for games, Jigsaws, colouring & activity sheets.

Summer Book Report
Fill in our book report form on your favourite book. We will display the best ones in the library. Report forms available at the desk.

Daily Activity Sheets
There will be daily Activity Sheets based on book characters available in the kids section throughout the month of July

Lego Exhibition & Prize Giving
Ages 7+ Saturday 28th July
Throughout July we are asking kids over 7 to make something fab from Lego that we can display on the exhibition day. Entry forms are available from the desk. We are asking the public to vote for their favourite exhibit on the Saturday. The exhibits voted the top 3 will each receive a Lego Prize.
Kids Book of the Month
See our display of this great book and try it out for July, let us know what you think with our book report and we will display your comments in the library at the end of the month.

Peter Rabbit Quiz with Prize
Copies of our Peter Rabbit Quiz are available from the desk. Ask for the book to find the answers and be in with a chance to win a Peter Rabbit prize.

Parent & Toddler Stories and Songs
Tuesday Mornings between 11am – 12pm. Bring your child along for games, puzzles and activities, there is also a stories and songs session with Mary, which begins at 11.45am. If Mary is away we have stories and crafts. Ask at the desk for details.

Summer Arts & Crafts – Ninjas and Princesses

Ashbourne Local History Society have donated a collection of their World War One and 1916 material. This collection is available for loan and is on display in the history section of the library
