Christmas & New Year Closure
Please note the library will close on the afternoon of Friday 22rd December and reopen on Thursday 28th December at 10am.

Adult Christmas Crafts Tutorial
Thursday 7th December 7pm
Come along with Rosemary Mulchrone and make a wonderful Christmas centrepiece  decoration. All materials are supplied. Places are limited, please book at the library if you wish to attend.

Christmas Musical Memories with the County Council Choir
Thursday 7th December 7pm.
Come along for a wonderful presentation of Christmas songs and music. Mulled wine and mince pies afterwards. Please leave your name at the desk if you wish to attend.
 
Christmas Stories and Songs
Junior and Senior infants from our local schools will be invited to the library for Christmas stories and songs with Mary during December.

Christmas Stories and Songs for the under 5’s
Every Tuesday in December at 11.45 with Mary.
A short Christmas story and Christmas songs session for the younger ones. Parents must attend with their child. No booking necessary.

Christmas Arts & Crafts
Tuesday 12th December 4pm. Ages 3 to 6 years
Come along for a Christmas story and Christmas crafts. Parents must attend with their child. Places are limited. Book at the desk.

Christmas Arts & Crafts – Christmas a doodle!
Thursday 14th December 4pm. Ages 7-10 years
Come along and make a great Christmas Christmas-a-doodle! Which will be displayed around our desk. Places are limited. Book at the desk.

Children’s Book Clubs Christmas Party
All our book club and members will receive an invite to our end of year party mid December.

Christmas Music Appreciation Club
Every Wednesday morning in December 11am – 12.30pm. (not running the 20th December.)
Come along and join our informal club, which will have a Christmas theme throughout December. On the 7th December we have a concert with the Ashbourne Community School Orchestra. New members welcome.

Courageous Kids Club
Tuesdays  4pm – 5pm
A club dedicated to the personal, emotional and social development of children aged 8-11 years through discussion, challenges, games, social interaction, and goal setting. Ashbourne 2020
Ashbourne 2020 celebrates 200 years of Ashbourne Village. The organising committee are asking for your suggestions on how to celebrate this event. Pop your suggestions into the suggestion box displayed in the library.

Grow in Ireland: Mental Health Ages 18+

Ashbourne Local History Society have donated a collection of their World War One and 1916 material. This collection is available for loan and is on display in the history section of the library

Parent & Baby Room
We have a relaxing parent & baby room, including a nappy changing unit, bottle warmer, parent magazines and a CD player for relaxing music.

Parent & Toddler Group
This runs term time only. Tuesday & Thursday mornings between 10am – 12pm.
Bring your child along for games & activities. There is a charge of €2 per morning. On Tuesdays there is also a free stories and songs session with Mary our Librarian, which begins at 11.45am. Ask at the desk for details.

Stories and Songs for the under 6s
Every Tuesday 11.45am – 12.15pm

Children’s Irish Dancing Classes
Every Tuesday at 5.30pm, Fridays at 4pm and Thursdays at 5.45pm.

Ashbourne Young Adult Scout Group
Meets every Thursday from 7pm.

Coderdojo Club
Coderdojo is a global collaboration providing free and open learning to young people, especially in programming technology 2nd December. Ages 7—14 years. Book your place for each session via the Ashbourne Coderdojo facebook page. Like the page and leave a message that you wish to attend. All children need a laptop with the ‘Scratch' 2.0 offline editor' ’ programme downloaded from the MIT Scratch website. Parents must attend with their children.

Student Study

Please note that due to the demand for quiet study space, upstairs space is available for Leaving Cert. and College exam study, ask for details at the desk, due to one off events some of these quiet times may vary. Students are welcome to use the spaces at other times but have to bear in mind as a community library, other events may be running.
