Enfield (An Bóthar Buí in Irish) lies on the N4 in south County Meath, located between Kilcock and Kinnegad and sits very close to the County Meath - County Kildare border.
Enfield, formerly and correctly called Innfield, the field of the Royal Oak Inn has associations with Bianconi's stagecoach road network in Ireland.
Located beside the Royal Canal it is a busy thoroughfare. Much conservation and restoration work on the Royal Canal has been carried out by the local community, resulting in a beautiful picnic area.
The N4, which was the main road to the West from Dublin, passes through Enfield and in December 2005, the M4 opened which bypasses Enfield and has relieved the traffic problems that once plagued the town.
