Notice is hereby given that Meath County Council at their monthly meeting held on Monday March 2nd 2015 has revoked (i.e. officially cancelled) the above mentioned Local Area Plans in accordance with Section 20 of the Planning & Development Acts 2000-2014.

The details previously contained in the Navan Local Area Plans 3 and 4 have now been subsumed into the Navan Development Plan 2009-2015 by Variation Number 1 of said plan which was made in May 2014 whilst it is considered that the primary objective of Navan Local Area Plan 1 has been realised by the development of an educational campus surrounding St. Martha’s College.

The detailed written objectives and land use zoning objectives for the urban centres contained in the East Meath Local Area Plan 2005-2011 have now been replaced by the inclusion of detailed written statements and land use zoning objectives for Gormonston, Julianstown and Stamullen in Volume V of the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019 following the making of Variation Number 2 of said plan in May 2014 whilst detailed written statements and land use zoning objectives for Laytown, Bettystown, Mornington East, Donacarney & Mornington are now contained in the new East Meath Local Area Plan 2014-2020.

The remaining 26 number Local Area Plans which covered the period 2009-2015 and are listed above have been replaced by the inclusion of detailed written statements and land use zoning objectives for each urban centre in Volume V of the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019 following the making of Variation Number 2 of said plan in May 2014.

This revocation process gives effect to stated objectives in the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019, as varied, and the Navan Development Plan 2009-2015, as varied.

Local Area Plan Revocation Process

In line with the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019 and reacting to changes in planning legislation, the number of Local Area Plans in County Meath is being significantly reduced.

Variation Number 2 of the County Development Plan 2013-2019 integrates written statements including detailed objectives and land use zoning objectives for each of 29 development centres that no longer require individual local area plans as there population or target population is less than 5,000 population. These written statements replace the Local Area Plans for these centres.

The details contained in the Navan Local Area Plans 3 and 4 have now been subsumed into the Navan Development Plan 2009-2015 by Variation Number 1 of said plan which was made in May 2014 whilst it is considered that the primary objective of Navan Local Area Plan 1 has been realised by the development of an educational campus surrounding St. Martha’s College.

The detailed written objectives and land use zoning objectives for the urban centres contained in the East Meath Local Area Plan 2005-2011 have now been replaced by the inclusion of detailed written statements and land use zoning objectives for Gormonston, Julianstown and Stamullen in Volume V of the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019 following the adoption of Variation Number 2 of said plan in May 2014 whilst detailed written statements and land use zoning objectives for Laytown, Bettystown, Mornington East, Donacarney & Mornington are now contained in the new East Meath Local Area Plan 2014-2020.

It is now necessary to undertake this process to revoke or officially cancel the older Local Area Plan documents and to prevent any unnecessary confusion to occur.
