Water Notice - (On behalf of Irish Water) Louth & East Meath - supply interruptions between 8a.m. and 4p.m. on Thursday, 22nd November affecting customers in Louth and East Meath

Date Released: 20 November 2018

Update from Irish Water regarding essential works at Staleen Water Treatment Plant

Irish Water and Louth County Council are carrying out essential works at the Roughgrange pumping station as part of the upgrade to the Staleen Water Treatment Plant. The works at the Roughgrange pumping station may result in supply interruptions between 8a.m. and 4p.m. on Thursday, 22nd November.  The Staleen Water Treatment Plant serves communities in South Louth and East Meath.

During the planned works the supply to these areas will be dependent on storage in the reservoirs. We will manage the network to minimise any impact on homes and businesses. It is not expected that customers will be impacted by water outages during the works, however some customers may experience reduced pressure and in exceptional cases water outages as the reservoir levels drop.

These works are essential to prepare for the commissioning of the newly constructed pipeline which will replace the original pipeline that supplies water from the River Boyne to the Staleen Water Treatment Plant. Irish Water is investing €19 million to upgrade the Water Treatment Plant and to construct the new pipeline which will ensure that the communities of South Louth and East Meath will have a safer, more secure and more reliable water supply.

Irish Water is encouraging customers to conserve water while this work is ongoing. We are urging customers to

  • conserve water by not running taps,
  • take showers instead of baths
  • refrain from using dishwashers and washing machines.

Irish Water and Louth County Council thank customers for their patience while we carry out these essential works.
