The Bogtastic Biodiversity of Girley Bog

 Wednesday, 23rd May 2018  from 3.30pm - 5.30pm

Join Irish Peatland Conservation Council (IPCC) and Girley Bog Meitheal, in association with Boyne Valley Natural History Field Club, for a guided walk onto Girley Bog. Meet at Causey Farm at 3.30pm.

IPCC will lead the walk and will discuss the importance of designated sites like Girley Bog as habitats for biodiversity. It will be a great opportunity to observe and identify some of the wonderful biodiversity on the bog including birds, butterflies, insect eating plants and other bogland specialists.

The walk will finish with a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits on the bog. The event is family friendly and there will be fun activities for children along the way including some pond dipping for mini-beasts and a bird treasure hunt.

The walk will include rough, boggy terrain so strong waterproof footwear is recommended.

This is a free event. This event is kindly supported by the Irish Environmental Network.
