Native Woodland Trust Tree Planting Volunteer Day
Would you like to get your hands dirty and help plant some trees? If so then come along to the Native Woodland Trust volunteer day on Saturday 12th November at the NWT Girley Woodland at Girley Bog.
The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland. The Trust achieves this by setting up woodland reserves around the country, such as the Girley reserve. This reserves network allows the Trust to protect existing woodland as well as plant new native woodland for the future. Part of the work we do involves running educational and fun events for our members and the public to encourage more people to use their local woodlands.
We have had super support since we started planting the Native Woodland Trust’s newest woodland. This volunteer day marks the first planting day of the season on our Girley site. We are inviting people to join us to help create an important native woodland habitat on our site at Girley Bog. We provide the tools for the tree planting. You just need to have strong footwear and outdoor clothing. Girley Bog is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours and get some fresh air and light exercise. This event is weather dependent.
The meeting point for this event will be at 11:00 am at the NWT Girley bog reserve which is located at the South end of Girley Bog. For a map and further details please check our website www.nativewoodlandtrust.ie or the events section of our Facebook page. This event will run from 11am until 1pm and all are welcome. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. For more details please contact Rebecca at email@example.com or on 087 9619083.
