Navan Town Park
Blackwater Park is situated on a 28 hectare (66 acre) site at Abbeylands, Navan between the Windtown Road and the River Blackwater.
The construction and development of the Town Park is one of Navan’s major achievements. The next stage was the opening of the Playground and Playing pitches.
While the Local Authority has done the work, it does not belong to them; it belongs to you, the citizens of Navan and Meath. Therefore as the owners, you have the responsibility to keep safe your belongings.
The children’s playground and playing pitches are just the present phase of development. It is the intention of Meath County Council to continue to invest and develop further facilities in the time ahead.
At the official opening on Friday 19th June, 2015 teams from Navan O’Mahony’s, Simonstown Gaels, Navan Cosmos, OMP and Tag Rugby teams from St Paul’s NS and St Oliver’s NS took part in games on the playing pitches. Posts for the 3 playing pitches were sponsored by the GAA, FAI and IRFU.
On the day of the opening the Mayor, Cllr Joe Reilly said
"You the park users, the park owners are the best security the park can have and we hope that you work in tandem with the Gardai and the Local Authority to ensure it remains safe for all."
