Heritage Week

Heritage Week 2017 - IT’S IN YOUR NATURE.

National Heritage Week takes place from the 19th to 27th August 2017. This year’s theme is “Nature and People”.

Heritage Week is co-ordinated by the Heritage Council, in conjunction with the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and is part of European Heritage Days, which is celebrated in 40 countries across Europe.

National Heritage Week is a fantastic opportunity for people to see, learn and discover more about their local environment and is also an opportunity to raise awareness of County Meath’s built, cultural and natural heritage.

This year’s theme of “Nature and People” gives a unique opportunity to put nature to the forefront of everyone’s mind, to combine all efforts to increase understanding of our biodiversity and to inspire people to get involved in protecting our natural heritage.

Numerous events including biodiversity walks, talks, exhibitions, family nature activity day, living history displays and a community archaeology dig will take place throughout Heritage Week – so whatever your interest you will find an event to suit. For families of all ages, it is a chance to take a break and enjoy the wonderful Meath landscape.
