Electoral Register

Register of Electors/Clár na dToghthóir

The Register of Electors comes into force on 15th February each year and is used at each election and referendum held in the succeeding 12 months.  In order to be able to vote at an election or referendum, a person's name must be entered on the Register of Electors for the locality in which the elector ordinarily resides. A person must be at least 18 years of age on the day the register comes into force (15th February).  Every resident aged 18 and upwards is entitled to be on the register. A person must be ordinarily resident at the address at which he/she wishes to be registered.

Tagann Clár na dToghthóirí i bhfeidhm ar an 15 Feabhra gach bliain agus baintear leas as le haghaidh gach toghcháin agus reifrinn a dhéantar sna 12 mhí ina dhiaidh sin. Le go mbeidh sé in ann vóta a chaitheamh i dtoghchán nó i reifreann, ní mór ainm duine a bheith ar Chlár na dToghthóirí le haghaidh an cheantair ina bhfuil gnáthchónaí ar an duine sin. Ní mór do dhuine a bheith 18 mbliana d'aois ar a laghad an lá a thagann an clár i bhfeidhm (an 15 Feabhra). Tá gach cónaitheoir atá 18 mbliana d'aois ar a laghad i dteideal a bheith ar an gclár. Ní mór gnáthchónaí a bheith ar dhuine ag an seoladh dar mian leis/léi a bheith cláraithe.
